Q: I know you advocate an approach of simplicity and not as “under the hood”; but I am most curious about ida and pingala at any rate. To your knowledge, are these two related to any known spinal tract pathways in “western” medicine / neuroanatomy? If so, could you please direct me towards those references?
A: A great question. Thank you
I am sure there is a correspondence in the neurology, but not being a physician, I can’t give you a definitive answer. However, the symbol of the modern medical profession, the caduceus, is a staff with two snakes spiraling up it, biting the wings of a glowing orb on top. It is easy to see that this represents the sushumna, ida, pingala, and more. So, the Greeks (or whoever came up with the caduceus) clearly understood that there is a connection between medical science and our spiritual anatomy. Whether modern medicine has any recollection of this is another question. Maybe it is time for a renaissance? If we all do our daily practices and awaken the glorious ecstatic truth stirring within, there will have to be one. Who could ignore it then?
